Fortnite turns seven years old later this year, and over that time it’s amassed one of the largest fanbases in all of gaming. There are always topics cycling in and out of discussion, from the return of God of War’s Kratos skin to the presence of the mysterious megalodon shark. With the launch of Chapter 5 Season 3, it seems the latter urban legend has finally been resolved.

The Megalodon Finally Arrives in Fortnite

The Fortnite megalodon myth started with the YouTuber Jimbothy way back in December 2017. In a video that has now amassed over 1.5 million views, he spoofs viewers by providing (fake) instructions to encounter a shark roaring up from the coast. Ever since then, it’s been a common in-joke in the Fortnite community.

The Marvel universe first collided with Fortnite in 2019 and then the following year in Chapter 2 Season 4 with a Marvel-themed Battle Pass. Since then we have been lucky enough to see Marvel skins in the Item Shop regularly. Many believe we are long overdue another Fortnite X Marvel event, so is it possible we will see one this season? One of the latest teaser trailers for the upcoming Fortnite season may have contained a small hint to another Marvel crossover coming in Chapter 5 Season 3. Only the most eagle-eyed fans would have spotted the tiny clue! If you didn’t notice it you’re not alone but, thankfully, iFireMonkey noticed it and posted on X.

Ever since the shock announcement of the Fortnite x Fallout event due to land in Chapter 5 Season 3, fans have been speculating on what the crossover may evolve. After all, it’s a far cry from the Greek Gods theme of Season 2, meaning some huge shake-ups are on the way. Fortunately, some eagle-eyed Reddit users may have landed on some big scoops.

Replacing the current in-game currency with Caps would be fun. Right now we have gold bars falling out of chests used for character services or at Vending Machines. Replacing them temporarily with Caps would lend itself well to a Fallout/Fortnite world!

According to Fortnite Status on X, the new season of Fortnite is delayed by at least another eight hours. Downtime for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 began at 3am ET, with matchmaking disabled shortly before. During this time players can no longer join a match or even load up Fortnite.
